Restaurant serves up something different

I'll be the first to tell you that I'm no adventurous eater.

I've always taken the easy way out at restaurants. If the menu consists mostly of foreign substances, I'll opt for a salad. But when I decided to eat at U.B.'s German Cuisine on Walton Way, I knew I wouldn't be able to walk down that easy road.

Along with my friend, I ordered the special of bratwurst with spicy mustard, German mashed potatoes and goulash soup. With the constant assurance of my friend, my nervousness finally ceased.

However, I began to get angry because the food was so slow in arriving.

Although the waitress was pleasant, she could have at least informed us that the food was taking forever and ever and ever. It took nearly an hour for her to serve our food. Luckily, we weren't in a rush to get back to work.

Aside from the service, most of the food was excellent, and the price is right, too.

I loved the bratwurst and spicy mustard. The goulash soup was similar in taste to chili. The mashed potatoes tasted like they had bacon bits in them; I must admit I wasn't too fond of the concoction.

You also can order lemon chicken, schnitzel "wiener art," chicken cordon bleu, jaegerschnitzel, kassler, schnitzel cordon bleu pork, sauerbraten, haxe, rouladen and more. U.B.'s also serves salads, sandwiches and kinderkarte.

The Walton Way restaurant was festive, decorated with Christmas garlands, red bows and lights. The decorations helped spice up the dark place.

Overall, U.B.'s should definitely be on your to-do list, if you have the time (even if you are unadventurous in your dining preferences).
