On Tuesday, the golf world got a dose of Hollywood glitz.
Last night, the Golf Digest companies played host to an advance screening of Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius at the Regal Augusta Exchange Stadium 20.
The movie, scheduled for an April 30 national release, stars Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ, Frequency) as golf legend Bobby Jones, Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) as his wife, Mary, and Malcom McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) as Jones mentor OB Keeler.
Caviezel attended the invitation-only event.
''This is a movie that transcends golf," he said. "But we couldn't make the movie without the golf, so yes, it is very important that people here respond to that aspect of the movie."
Coming Sunday
Producer Kim Dawson spent 15 years bringing Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius to the screen. He worked closely with Mr. Jones' family in creating the biography of the famous golfer's early life and career.
